I started Geeks Cubed Computer Services after hearing several stories from friends and relatives about their experience dealing with technical support at Big Box Stores, getting taken advantage of from their computer manufacturer’s support, and subpar support from local computer repair shops. These stories tended to reinforce the stereotype that computer professionals will take advantage of people who don’t understand how their computer works. I listened to repeated complaints about visitation charges, over the top chargers for hardware, finding ‘additional’ issues and charging for them and then never fully explaining what was truly wrong with their computer.
I thought this approach was wrong because I am a computer professional with over 10 years of experience in dealing with a variety of issues. I know the solutions that most of these professionals implement, and it wasn’t worth what they were charging. A computer repair shouldn’t cost more than it does to repair your car.
I started Geeks Cubed so people wouldn’t be scared about their computer and then be intimidated by the professional they hire to help them out. I want to provide people with peace of mind about their computer, to provide a local person who will treat you like the owner of their computer and not just a number on their calendar.
I help others so that they will not get taken advantage of, so they will have a bit more knowledge about their computer than before I showed up to help them.
